Your 30-day free trial starts the first time you run the app — full features, no credit card.
macOS · Apple Silicon
Open Saykeep-0.4.3.dmg, drag Saykeep to your Applications folder, and open it. No terminal to install it, nothing to compile. On first run, setup walks you through the permissions below. Every step, and what each prompt is for: Getting started.
Five things to know first.
Apple Silicon only
An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) with macOS 14.2 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. Macs with 8 GB of memory: not measured yet, so try it free first.
About 5 GB downloaded on first run
The first run downloads about 4.7 GB of speech models, once, with a progress bar, so it needs a connection for as long as your line takes. Have about 5 GB free.
Three permissions, plus two questions
Accessibility, which the hold-to-talk key needs, you switch on by hand — setup opens the page and checks it for you. macOS asks for the Microphone the first time you dictate, and whether Saykeep may send notifications: allow it, that’s how Saykeep tells you when something needs attention. At your first meeting it asks whether Saykeep may use your Documents folder, where recordings are saved, and whether it may record system audio (System Audio Recording). Click Allow both times, or that meeting can’t be recorded.
Summaries need a model you connect
Without a model you still get the full transcript with speaker labels. For summaries, connect a free one on your Mac (LM Studio or Ollama), or your own API key, which sends the transcript text, plus your name and “about you” note if you filled them in, to that provider. ChatGPT Plus doesn’t include API access.
Your files are ordinary files
They live in ~/Documents/Saykeep as ordinary files, and sync to your iCloud if your Desktop & Documents sync is on; we never receive them. The FAQ shows how to keep them on the Mac only.
Known issue
If another call starts or ends while Saykeep is recording, macOS audio can drop for a few minutes, in every app. Stop the recording before you hang up. On AirPods/Bluetooth days, choose your Mac’s built-in mic in Saykeep; that makes the drop less likely. If it happens, Saykeep tells you, keeps recording, and picks the audio back up when macOS recovers (it has taken up to ten minutes), or at once with the fix in our FAQ. Virtual or aggregate audio devices and pro audio interfaces: not tested — the trial is the test.

What you get
Hold a key, speak, release: the text is on your clipboard, or pasted where your cursor is once you switch that on.
Your mic and what your Mac plays, recorded without a bot; after the call, the transcript with who said what, as ordinary files.
Speech-to-text and speaker labels run on this Mac, and we never receive your recordings. Every connection it can make.
$39 once. Nothing renews.
Before you buy: needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later), macOS 14.2+, and about 5 GB of speech models downloaded on first run. 8 GB Macs: not measured yet; MacBook Neo: not tested — try it free first. Call transcripts arrive after the call: about 35 minutes per meeting-hour on an M5 with speaker labels, or about 3–7 minutes with them switched off. Summaries need an AI model you connect; without one you get transcripts with speaker labels. Only have a Windows PC? Don’t buy yet — join the list.
Your key is emailed by hand, usually within a day; use the trial meanwhile.
