Comparison

Saykeep vs. Granola

Both record your calls without a bot joining them. Granola sends the audio to its transcription provider and writes notes for you in its cloud; Saykeep makes the transcript on your Mac, and we never receive your recordings. Here is when each one is the better pick, and what each costs over three years.

Granola details checked on 29 September 2026, on Granola’s own pages. Plans and features change, so check granola.ai before you decide. Written to be fair: Granola is a good product.

Saykeep

Recording light: on your screen, not in the call

no bot

Granola removed the bot and kept the cloud. Saykeep removed both: no bot joins, and no Saykeep cloud. iCloud can still sync the files if you let it, and a summary endpoint you connect receives the transcript text, with your name and “about you” note if you filled them in.

Quick take

Choose Granola if you want notes written for you as soon as a call ends, with no model to set up, shared with your team and on your phone too. Granola deletes the audio once it is transcribed.
Choose Saykeep if your client calls shouldn’t go to a notetaker’s cloud, or you simply want to own the tool: one payment, a key checked on your Mac, and every connection the app can make published so you can check it on the wire. You get the full transcript with who said what, after the call — not ready-made notes.

Switching guide

  1. Export your existing notes from Granola (CSV); their export includes your full note history.
  2. Download Saykeep — the 30-day trial is full-featured, no card, so you can run both side by side.
  3. Record your next call with Saykeep; rename the speakers; connect a model if you want summaries.
  4. Run LuLu or Little Snitch during the call and compare what you see with saykeep.app/network.

Verdict

Granola removed the bot and kept the cloud; that’s the right trade for teams who want notes ready the moment a call ends, shared and synced. Saykeep removed both, for the client calls you’d rather not send to a notetaker’s cloud. If that’s you, the trial is free and answers the question in one call.
